It is the mission of the Echo House Multi-Service Center (Echo House) to prevent, reduce and eliminate substance abuse in the Baltimore community; treating not only the individual, but the entire family.
Description:
It is the goal of the Echo House to uplift and support families in Baltimore City so that they will be able to improve their financial, economic, educational and social lives. Echo House provides substance abuse treatment and prevention services, financial assistance to prevent eviction, summer educational camp, Saturday recreational program, and a food pantry for the residents of Baltimore City.
History:
Echo House was founded in 1964 by Mr. Howard Offitt. Mr. Offitt was a landlord and owned many residences. He sought to improve the lives of his tenants, by offering them supportive services that would improve their lives. In 1966, Echo House because a United Way agency and from that date to today, Echo House has had a close working relationship with the United Way.
