Kids C.A.N. Mentoring Program

Kids C.A.N. primary mission is to promote mentoring in Harford County and to identify and provide opportunities for caring adults to help young people succeed in life.

Description:
Our program assists more than 30 mentoring programs. We provide a one hour training session for mentors. Our program matches mentors to the mentoring program that best suits their interests, time & talents. We coordinate opporunities for mentors to network and learn new skills. We recognize mentors for their commitment to out youth.

History:
Kids C.A.N. is an acronym of Caring Adult Network of mentors. The program was started in September 1997 to promote mentoring in Harford County and to identify and provide opportunities for caring adults to help young people succeed in life. We are an umbrella organization that assists all county mentoring programs. Kids C.A.N. collaborates with 22 public schools, 9 churches and 15 other community organizations. Kids C.A.N. recruits mentors, provides training and screening and matches them with a young person. You don't need special skills to be a mentor. You just need to care and be there! Volunteering just one hour a week CAN make a difference in a child's life. Every child deserves a chance to grow and thrive. Mentors are good listeners, people who care, people who want to help young people bring out strengths that are already there.
