Dayspring, Inc.

Dayspring, Inc. is a private, non-profit education organization that supports and promotes children’s total development (spiritual/moral, physical, intellectual, and socio-emotional). Dayspring, Inc.'s Visions for Education initiative is designed to improve the education and schooling outcomes for children in Baltimore City by offering innovative, research-based academic programs to children and youth during out-of-school time. Dayspring is located in the Park Heights/Pimlico community of Baltimore City.

History:
Dayspring, Inc. was incorporated in March 1982 as a private, nonprofit organization in order to provide educational and child care services to families of young children in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Dayspring, Inc. was granted 501(c)3 status by the Internal Revenue Service in October 1982. Dayspring, Inc. was then licensed by the Baltimore City Health Department to operate what was initially called Rainbow's End Preschool and Child Care Center. Rainbow's End opened its doors to its first families in December.

Dayspring operated a state-approved early education and child care program from 1982 to 1995 serving more than 300 families in the Park Heights and surrounding communities. We have operated nursery and kindergarten program, school-age summer programs (for elementary and middle school students), helped to pioneer the use of developmentally appropriate computer-assisted learning in early education programs with a grant from IBM, sponsored educational outreach services at community and citywide events, employed and trained many community residents as well as teacher education students from local colleges and universities, and have watched with pride as our former students excelled in public, private, and parochial schools throughout the area.
