Diversity Thru Colors

Agency Details:

Diversity Thru Colors
Logo

Our mission is to unite and strengthen under-served youth and families through athletics, education and cultural awareness, and to endow the youth with the confidence and knowledge to make principled decisions, to live up to their potential, and to realize their dreams.

Description:
Diversity thru Colors is a non-profit, faith based mentoring organization established to bridge the gaps in existing community programs and work to prevent the deterioration of our children and communities.

Diversity thru Colors operates on the philosophy that in order to truly make a lasting difference in the lives of our children, we must first make a difference in the lives of our families. By strengthening the relationships not only within family units, but also the relationships linking the families of our community, we are reaching our goals of building a phenomenal support group that can champion our children and give them the proverbial “village” needed to ensure their prosperous futures.

In order to reach our goals, Diversity thru Colors operates four groups of programs: Youth Enrichment Programs, Vocational Programs, Family Activity, Culture and Enrichment Program and Change Alliance.

History:
Diversity thru Colors grew from a bi-weekly swimming outing in 2003 to the organization is it today in response to the community it serves. The founders of Diversity thru Colors are ordinary people, who utilized the insight they gained from their personal experiences with poverty, homelessness and discrimination to design programs that would be accessible, enticing, useful and important to underprivileged and isolated youth and families.

Economically our focus is on low-income families, with special attention given to families with four or more children. Geographically we focus on the Greater St. Cloud Metro. Our primary concern is at-risk youth aged 8 - 23, with emphasize on those between the ages of 12-18 when the search for self is fundamental, peer pressure is strongest and the likelihood of involvement in negative activity is greatest.
