Senior Helping Hands, Recovery Plus

The mission of Senior Helping Hands, consistent with the mission and values of St. Cloud Hospital and Behavioral Health Services, is to provide effective services of support, information and counseling to older adults and their families in Central Minnesota who may be experiencing chemical/mental health problems.

Description:
Senior Helping Hands provides outreach services and consultation with family or concerned persons, facilitates workshops for the general public and professionals, organizes volunteer support for older adults with chemical dependency and mental health problems, and assists with primary treatment program and temporary sober housing, if needed, for older adults while they are in treatment.

History:
Senior Helping Hands began in 1985 with funding from various agencies and sponsorship under the Recovery Plus of the St. Cloud Hospital. Program efforts include the Reminiscence Training program, Elder Network Program and temporary sober housing, as well as continuing to work with older adults who are chemically dependent. Volunteers have been an integral part of Senior Helping Hands.
