Reach-Up Inc. strengthens and supports low-income families with young children in an environment of trust and respect, through comprehensive services and partnerships with families, staff and communities.
Description:
Reach-Up Inc. works in partnership with families in Benton, Stearns and Sherburne counties in Central Minnesota to provide comprehensive and responsive services. These include:
A Early Head Start for pregnant women and families with children ages birth to three. Program options include First Start, Family Literacy, Home Based and Center Based Child Care.
A Head Start for families with children, ages 3-5. Program options include Center Based (part-day & full-day), and Home Based.
A KinderStart Program works with Reach-Up Inc. families who have kindergarten age children, who have completed Head Start.
A Family Literacy is a collaboration with a local school district. It works with families with children, ages birth to five. It includes adult education, early childhood education, parent-child activities and volunteer opportunities for parents.
Reach-Up Inc. programs include disability and mental health services, family involvement opportunities, parent and nutrition education, meals and snacks, social services, health screenings, health services and education, and decision-making by parents.

History:
Reach-Up Incorporated was established as a not-for-profit single purpose agency in 1979 and became the Head Start agency at that time for Benton, Sherburne and Stearns Counties in Central Minnesota.
Prior to this, the local Community Action Program administered the Head Start program in the same service area.
Reach-Up Inc. is directed by a Board of Directors with community members, Head Start parents and Early Head Start parents and by a Policy Council composed of current and past Head Start and Early Head Start parents and community members. The Executive Director manages the day to day operations with a twelve member Management Team.
Reach-Up Inc. is primarily funded by the Administration for Children and Families (federal) and the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning (state) to provide Head Start and Early Head Start services.
Reach-Up Inc. currently serves 429 families in Head Start and 60 families in Early Head Start. Head Start options include full-day/full-year, center-based, family child care and home-based. Early Head Start options include a child care center, home-based and combination programs.
Reach-Up Inc. works with Playhouse Child Care Center to provide full-day services at the St. Cloud Technical College site.
