Housing Coalition of the St. Cloud Area
The Mission Statement of the Housing Coalition of the St. Cloud Area is to provide leadership and work in partnership with the community to ensure that a continuum of safe, decent, affordable housing is available for people in need. We do this through education, advocacy, programming, and development.
Description:
The Housing Coalition owns and operates a family emergency shelter, family and single adult transitional housing, permanent supportive housing for people with disabilities and over 100 units of affordable rental units. In addition, programs are in place to provide supportive services to assist participants with gaining and maintaining self-sufficiency and permanent housing. Individual and systems advocacy are also important components of our Mission. For more information, please visit the web sit at www.housingcoalition.com.
History:
The Housing Coalition is a 501c3 non-profit agency established in 1988. It was first formed as a coalition of community agencies and interested individuals who had strong concerns about the lack of affordable housing and services for homelessness population in the St. Cloud area. It quickly grew into an agency actively involved in the development and management of housing and services to meet the needs of individuals and families who are homeless or in need of affordable housing. The Coalition also serves as the host agency of the Furniture Donation Program, a collaborative effort of various agencies in the community to collect and re-distribute gently used furniture to families in need.
