New Beginnings - MN - St. Cloud
New Beginnings is a residential program for single pregnant women and babies. Our mission is to provide a safe, secure residence for pregnant women and their babies while fostering self-esteem, educational growth, and skills of living, parenting and decision making.
Description:
Single pregnant women usually come to live at New Beginnings sometime during their pregnancy, and can stay for up to one year after their baby is born. During their stay here, they work with the social workers on staff to make goals and develop life-skills. We work with them on going to school, finding a job, caring for their pregnancy and then their baby, making a decision to either parent or place their baby, building healthy relationships, going to counseling, persevering in sobriety, finding affordable housing, developing good parenting skills, and in general, becoming healthier, stronger, and more independent and self-sufficient individuals.
History:
New Beginnings was started in 1983 by a group of volunteers from Birthline who wanted to provide a safe, nurturing home for single, pregnant women. Over the years we've grown and changed and expanded our services. We are fully staffed and also are served by a number of devoted volunteers who enhance the services we provide and enrich the lives of our women and babies.
