Junior Achievement-St. Cloud
Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. JA is the largest organization dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Junior Achievement provides programs that complement and enhance existing school curriculum.
Description:
As a volunteer consultant for JA, you have the opportunity to visit a K-12 classroom 5-8 times. During each 25-45 minute visit you have the opportunity to share your own personal experiences while teaching hands-on grade appropriate curriculum provided by JA.
History:
JA was founded in 1919 by Horace Moses (founder of 4-H) and leaders in the business community. It is the worlds oldest, largest, and fastest growing non-profit initiative in economic education. JA offers economic education programs to a diverse audience of K-12 students during regular school hours. JA brings over 150,000 business volunteers nationally into the classroom to create a bridge between the classroom and the workplace. JA reaches over 4 million young people in over 162,000 classrooms in the United States and nearly 7 million students in 100 countries around the world. This school year, 6,000 students participated in JA programs throughout Central MN.
