Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Reach-Up Inc.'s Board of Directors consists of 15 positions. The by-Laws provide for membership categories and election of members.
The Board of Directors utilizes the Policy Governance approach in its over sight of the agency.

The Board meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Reach-Up Inc. Office. Member serve a 3 year term and are elected by the current Board. Terms Expire in October of each year. 5 position expired each year.

Currently we are in need of new Board member right away.

New Board member receive orientation from current members and the Executive Director. Orientation includes agency information, Head Start and Early Head Start performance Standards, program information and the Board's By-Laws.

Responsibilities include:

1. Oversee Reach-Up Inc.'s operation as a not-for-profit agency incorporated in the State of Minnesota.
   
   
2. Ensure that agency policy and procedures accomplish the missions and values of Reach-Up Inc.
   
   
3. Understand the fiduciary responsibility of the Board and monitor the financial management of the agency.
   
   
4. Work with on-going committees as needed to assist in the Board of Directors' process, such as Finance, Strategic Planning, Policies and Procedures, Membership and Agency Evaluation.
   
   
5. Serve on the Executive Committee, if elected as an officer, and attend scheduled meetings.
   
   
6. Gain a general understanding of Reach-Up Inc. and its programs through orientation, review of materials and participation in the Board's process.
   
   
7. Represent the vision of Reach-Up Inc. and its role in the community.
   
   
8. Promote community awareness and participation in Reach-Up Inc. programs and activities.
   
   
9. Maintain confidentiality regarding Reach-Up Inc.'s children, families, volunteers, staff, Board members and persons involved in the program.
   
   
10. Maintain confidentiality regarding program issues, as determined by the Board of Directors.
    
    
11. Attend regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors and committees.
