Adopt A Park Opportunities for Teens to Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 4, 2009

From tending flowers at Lake George to picking up litter along park trails, St. Cloud residents help beautify and preserve the City's many parks and hundreds of acres of parkland. Each volunteer makes a difference.
Hundreds of volunteers participate in the Adopt-A-Park Program each year, working on multiple park projects. Volunteers have raised thousands of dollars for land preservation, landscaping and park amenities. Park benches, picnic tables and playground equipment become a reality because of volunteer commitment to community parks. We are proud of our nationally-recognized BMX bicycle-racing park, and appreciate the hard work of the groups that provide us with our competitive disc golf courses, as well an Archery Range and 3-D Course. Volunteers provide for operation, maintenance, and programs in those specialized parks as well.
Without volunteer help, St. Cloud's parks would not be as plentiful or as beautiful.
We are excited to announce we are expanding our Adopt-A-Park program by including an Adopt-A-Program category. The Recreation Department is seeking individuals, businesses and agencies that can assist them in maintaining the level of recreation programming that has been provided. Adopt-A-Pool would enable the Department to continue to operate the number of wading pools that our community has come to appreciate. Youth athletic team sponsors are also always appreciated. As we all know a team t-shirt is a big deal to that young baseball star. Whether it is a babysitting clinic, junior lifesaving, or a summer of soccer, sponsors and donors dollars are used in diverse ways in the Recreation Department. Many of those donor dollars are filtered through our scholarship program, which allows others to participate on equal playing ground where otherwise they may not. Making that possible is imperative to the success of that child.
Thank you for making a difference, we sincerely appreciate all you do.
Mayor Dave Kleis
