COMMUNITY NEED SERVED BY THIS PROJECT: The Hope community support program focuses on Adult mental health services. This service is designed to develop and enhance psychiatric stability, social competencies, personal and emotional adjustment to adults that are suffering from mental illness. This service also provides independent living and community skills. PEER MENTOR FOCUS: The primary focus of a peer mentor will include teaching, role modeling and supporting the mentee, and engage the mentee in social interaction and community activities. Peer mentors generally spend at least 10 hours per month with their mentee to gain and maintain a healthy and pleasant relationship for both the mentor and mentee. The mentors are also invited to group staff meetings. TIME COMMITMENT: The time commitment for this volunteer position is 10 hours per month.
