United Way Community Partnerships and Services Intern

United Way of Central Minnesota interns learn about United Way, the network of human service agencies, strengths of the local human service system, challenges, issues, trends and changing needs in Central Minnesota. They gain increased skills in one-to-one communication, group facilitation, public speaking, setting and reaching goals, written communication and working as part of a team. United Way works with each person to take on projects and responsibilities that relate to their interests, skills and goals.

Opportunities include: Assist in coordination of initiatives related to diversity, assist clients over the phone with information and referral at 2-1-1, promote early learning through Success By 6, interviewing and referring potential volunteers to meet community needs through United Way Volunteer Central, research projects, volunteer promotion and recognition, allocation of United Way donations through Community Investment Teams volunteers, and outreach with local human service organizations to ensure a current website of local volunteer opportunities.

Interns add to the quality of what United Way accomplishes in Central Minnesota. They are a tremendous asset to the organization.

United Way Interns are asked to commit a minimum of 20 hours a week. Students from many different backgrounds have interned at United Way of Central Minnesota and describe this as a valuable educational learning experience. United Way actively engages interns year-round. Internship opportunities offer valuable work experience. Mileage reimbursement to attend meetings & participate in community outreach.

Directions:

 United Way of Central Minnesota is located in the 2700 Building. One block off Division Street to the north. You can turn off Divison Street at 27th Avenure, and the bulding is at the end of the block. Another option would be to turn on 25th Avenue and take a left on to 1st Street. The 2700 building is one block down on the left. The United Way of Central Minnsota is on the third floor of the building.
  Nearest Bus Stop: Byerly's or Mid Town Square, 5 minute walk
