Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Opportunity to assist older adults and people with special needs with transportation to medical appointments. For many people, the lack of assistance in getting to medical appointments increases the likelihood that they will lose the ability to stay in their own homes. We connect volunteers who are interested in helping someone in their neighborhood maintain their independence. Some care receivers are very independent and only need transport, others may require more assistance such as checking into the appropriate clinic or help with a wheelchair at the clinic. A medical transport may also include a trip to a pharmacy for a new prescription. We do offer transport to care receivers with memory issues which requires door to door escort and companionship.

Volunteers fill out an application and provide character references. All drivers must have a reliable car and proof of insurance. A background/driving record check will be completed on each applicant. We will provide the support to help each person do their job.
