Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Accountability Minnesota provides tax preparation services for low-income families in our community. They are seeking volunteers to help at various St. Cloud area site locations during the upcoming tax season.

Volunteers are needed at the tax site locations to assist as tax site assistants. Responsibilities include greeting customers and assisting with sign-in process, verify customer has appropriate documentation, organize documentation for tax preparation, record statistics from tax reviewer, photocopy and assemble tax returns, inform customer on dollar amount owed or refunded, advise customer on where to sign, date and mail returns, work cooperatively with staff and volunteers to assure tax clinic runs smoothly and provides high quality customer service.

Volunteers must maintain strict confidentiality, providing as much privacy as logistically possible and follow guidelines and procedures outlined in the Volunteer Training Manual.

Tax site assistants are required to attend a one hour training in January. Volunteers must be punctual and stay for the entire length of the time scheduled and give a 24-hr cancellation notice when they will be absent from a scheduled shift.

Volunteers are needed 4-hour shifts available on Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Wednesdays from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 8 pm and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 12 pm. The tax service runs from early February to mid April. St. Cloud area locations include Salvation Army, Technical College, Catholic Charities. Volunteers are asked to commit 4 hours per week February through mid-April.
