Catholic Charities Emergency Services offers four different services to individuals that find themselves in temporary need of the basic necessities for living, for themselves and/or their families.
- The Food Shelf which feeds over 2,500 people (approximately 40% of these are children)
- Free clothing
- Emergency Financial Assistance
- A Counselor for individuals and families to help them resolve immediate issues in their lives, help them find solution(s) to their most pressing problem(s), and/or link them to other services throughout the community.
Many clients come into the Food Shelf for the first time and aren't sure where to go or what to do. They can be quite anxious about their visit. The Hospitality Assistant can greet this individual or family, welcome them to their shopping experience and perhaps direct them where to register. At times lines can be long for the food shelf because of the increased need and at times, there are several individuals in the waiting area. The Hospitality Assistant would also help these clients feel welcome by greeting them, serving them cookies and refreshments, "chatting" with them or directing them to the individuals that can answer their questions. The Hospitality Assistant might also help with set-up of the waiting area, putting things on tables, or decorating for the season. o Located on the bus line o We would love to have you join the Emergency Services staff for treats and pot lucks as they are available o Great Opportunity to work in friendly environment with a dedicated staff and see immediately how you have positively impacted another person's life!
