COMMUNITY NEED SERVED BY THIS PROJECT:

Catholic Charities Emergency Services offers four different services to individuals and families that find themselves in temporary need of the basic necessities for living.

*Food Shelf that over 250 community members utilize every week
*Free clothing
*Emergency financial assistance
*A counselor for individuals and families to help them resolve immediate issues in their lives, help them find solution(s) to their most pressing problem(s), and/or link them to other services throughout the community.

VOLUNTEER TASKS:

Many children are present at the Food Shelf with their parents. The licensed counselor will be present at the Food Shelf three days a week to help individuals and children with emergency mental health issues. The counselor will work with the Volunteer(s) to engage the children in brief crafts & activities, interact with the children, and develop self-esteem enhancing projects/activities. When the counselor is engaged with parents and other individuals, volunteers will supervise and interact with the children. The youth can range in age from 1 - 13 yrs.

TIME COMMITMENT:
Volunteers are needed during various times throughout the week. A minimum three-hour per week commitment is preferred.

*Monday: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
*Wednesday: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
*Friday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

REQUIREMENTS:
*Ability to work well with clients and youth from ethnically diverse backgrounds and economic classes
*Ability to talk to and relate well to children of various ages
