The American Red Cross is Federally Chartered to provide disaster services to the American people. Whether a local or national disaster, help is needed for those afflicted by tragic events. The most common disaster in our area is the single family fire. Red Cross assistance includes food, shelter, clothing, first aid and other basic elements for comfort and survival. The Central MN Chapter responds to disasters in Benton, Big Stone, Chippewa, Kanabec, Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle, Meeker, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Pope, Sherburne, Stearns, Stevens, Swift, Todd, and Wright Counties 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The chapter has volunteers on call continuously to respond to all emergency needs. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, complete a training course and have current certification in Adult CPR and First Aid.
