UW Greek: Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Alpha Theta is the organization that provides the finest and most rewarding membership experience. Our purpose is to support members to learn, grow, and excel, and our core values are personal excellence, friendship, scholarship, service, and leadership.
Description:
At Kappa Alpha Theta, we pride ourselves on our close friendship, leadership, scholarship, and service to others. Together we form a sisterhood of caring, supportive, talented, bright, down-to-earth, and fun-loving women. Whether we are studying at the library, at a themed social, decked out in red and white for the football game, at a philanthropy event or at our annual formal, Thetas experience sisterhood in an exceptional way. We expect each member to achieve high scholarship and to develop to the fullest of her intellectual, cultural, and social potential. We believe that Theta is for a lifetime, and use our traditions and ritual to achieve our personal, academic, and social best.
History:
Kappa Alpha Theta is the first Greek letter fraternity for women and was founded at DePauw University in 1870. The Psi chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Madison was founded in 1890.
