Verona Senior Center
We provide an array of activities and services designed to support and enhance the independence and well being of older adults in the Verona area.
Description:
Governed by a volunteer board of 7 older adults, the Board is charged with raising funds to provide social, educational and recreational activities and entertainment events and amenities for the Verona Senior Center. The Senior Center hosts an annual Pie Social in July, a Mystery Auction to benefit an outside charity in Sept, Halloween Party in Oct, Veterans Recognition in Nov, and a Community Tree Lighting and Chili Supper in Dec. They also have a monthly birthday/anniversary lunch with entertainment and provide informational presentations at least once a month.
History:
The Verona Senior Center is one of the longest continually operating senior centers in Dane County. The are a daily meal site for older people and also provide home delivered meals for those who are home bound. They publish a monthly newsletter and have a site on the City of Verona's website. They own and operate the first neighborhood electric vehicle in Verona, delivering meals and running errands for older adults without other transportation.
