Bethel Community Services
Bethel Community Services Corporation is the community social service arm of Bethel Lutheran Church. It exists to assist and develop services to Latino youth, children at risk, single mothers and hungry families.
Description:
Using a faith based approach, BCS supports – but is not limited to – Latino Youth Ministry: a community program providing alternatives for Latino youth to gang activity. Southdale Afterschool: A mentoring program for elementary at-risk kids residing in the South part of Madison. BCS provided and disposes of property for this purpose, within the IRS 501[c]3 provisions. In addition, BCS seeks grants and funds outside of Bethel’s budget to provide services to people in the community.
History:
BCS has been sponsoring the free Afterschool program since fall 2007. Serving about 20 kids fron the Southdale neightborhood and providing them with recreation and academic mentoring in a safe environment.
