Pancreatic Cancer Action Network - Madison Affiliate

Our comprehensive approach to fighting pancreatic cancer is unique. We advance research, support patients and create hope by funding research, supporting an all volunteer network focused on community outreach programs, as well as leading advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill in the fight against pancreatic cancer. We are here to support the pancreatic cancer community: our patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, researchers, volunteers and donors.

THE PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK is a nationwide
network of people dedicated to working together
to advance research, support patients and create hope
for those affl icted by pancreatic cancer. We raise money for direct private funding of research—and advocate for more aggressive federal research funding of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment. We fill the void of information and options by giving patients and caregivers the personalized and reliable information they need to make informed decisions. And, we help individuals and communities across the country work together to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer and the funds to find a cure.

At THE PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK, we understand
the many challenges facing those affected by pancreatic cancer. We understand what their family
members and caregivers are experiencing as well. We also know there is a reason for hope—we create a strong sense of hope and community so anyone facing pancreatic cancer does not have to do so alone.

History:
PanCAN has grown from a vision of three people in 1999 to become one of America’s leading patient-based advocacy organizations to focus on pancreatic cancer. To meet the ever-growing informational needs of the pancreatic cancer community, PanCAN has responded by establishing innovative programs which are highly acclaimed worldwide. The organization is directly funding Career Development Research Grants and has been responsible for significantly increasing the federal funds available for pancreatic cancer researchers nationwide. PanCAN’s Patient and Liaison Services (PALS), offers the latest information about diagnosis, treatment, surgery options, clinical trials and other essential information via internet and a toll-free call-in service. And our volunteer-based grassroots advocacy network, TeamHOPE, has grown to over 80 affiliates nationwide which work tirelessly to promote public awareness and raise funds for our critically important research, advocacy and patient support services.
