The Gerald A. Bartell Community Theatre Foundation is a collaborative effort to support accessible, diverse, community-based theatre in Madison.
Description:
With a unique governance structure that puts our six resident companies in the driving seat, the Bartell Theatre Foundation is a theatre creating community creating theatre. Our volunteers work in production, tech, house management and administrative capacities, keeping the building beautiful, the Foundation strong, and the resident companies producing great theatre.
History:
Established in 1994, the Bartell Theatre saw its first production in 1998. In 2004, the Foundation funded a renovation of the theatre to its 1969 facade. Between 1998 and 2008 over 150 productions have brought laughter and tears to Madison audiences. This year, a new website, a volunteer program, and board/committee development will build new strengths for the next ten years!
