Skaalen Retirement Services is an affiliated ministry of the Lutheran Church, committed to providing excellent care, housing, and services to older adults and persons in need. We do this within a caring and Christian environment.

Description:
The main Skaalen campus is located in a quiet residential neighborhood on the north east side of Stoughton. Our campus covers 110 acres and includes beautiful walking paths and a number of areas for families to sit, relax and enjoy nature. We also have a retirement condominium community located in McFarland, Wisconsin.

Skaalen has a long history of providing care and services for mature adults. As the needs of our customer base have changed, we have added services and updated our campus to meet these needs.

Currently, our Stoughton campus includes a skilled nursing facility, a 32-bed Memory Care Unit, a 48-bed assisted living community, 8 two-bedroom retirement apartment-style condominiums and 164 two-bedroom ranch-style condominium units with a private club house. Our McFarland campus offers 57 two-bedroom ranch-style condominium units with a private club house.

Skaalen offers transportation services, in-house beauty and barber shop, a beautiful Chapel with weekly worship opportunities, a free fitness center for staff and residents and an in-house state of the art rehabilitation department with Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy Services. The rehabilitation department offers in-patient and out-patient rehab services, a wellness center designed for seniors and a warm water therapy pool.

History:
When Skaalen Nursing Home opened in January of 1900, it became home to forty men and women who spent their final years in an environment of Christian care and comfort. Today, Skaalen Retirement Services is one of Dane County's largest long-term and rehabilitative care facilities, providing care and housing options to more than 800 older adults and their families every year.
