The Epilepsy Foundation Southern Wisconsin will ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences; and will prevent, control and cure epilepsy through research, education, advocacy and services.

Description:
A 501(c)3 non profit health and human service organization, the Epilepsy Foundation Southern Wisconsin provides education and support to individuals with epilepsy and their families, to enhance patient self-management. Seizure recognition and first aid presentations increase awareness in the general community as well as emphasize preventable epilepsy. In addition to services for families dealing with epilepsy and public health education, we provide advocacy on epilepsy issues and collaborate with other community resources in support of our mission.

We are able to provide these services through the generous support of grants and donations from various corporations, businesses, foundations and interested individuals.

History:
Incorporated in 1980, the Epilepsy Foundation grew out of a support network of people with epilepsy and parents of children who were dealing with seizures. Specialized services for those with epilepsy and public education programs designed for teachers, human service workers, school age children, first responders, and employers have been hallmarks of the organization.

The Epilepsy Foundation serves residents of 25 counties in Southern Wisconsin, including all of Dane County.
