Walden Homes, Ltd. strives to provide high quality group home care for adolescents with a focus on: nurturance, supervision and guidance. We work diligently to help residents develop respect for themselves and for others, responsibility for their actions and a set of skills that will make them better members of the community.
Description: Walden Homes, Ltd. is licensed by the State of Wisconsin to provide group home care to youth in need of out of home care and supervision. Walden operates 3 group homes for adolescents: Coventry House, Horizon House and Thoreau House. Coventry House serves adolescent females ages 12-16, Horizon House serves adolescent females ages 13-17, and Thoreau House serves adolescent males ages 13-17.
History: Walden Homes, Ltd. was established in 1971 as a non-profit corporation. The agency is directed by a 5 member volunteer Board of Directors. The current Executive Director is George Nestler. Mr. Nestler oversees the operations of all group homes. Each group home has its own Program Director who is responsible for that program's operations. The three programs contract with various agencies including: Dane County Department of Humans Services, the Department of Juvenile Corrections and various other County Departments of Human Services.

Going East on East Washington away from the Capital Building, make a right on Ingersoll Street. Cross E. Main, Williamson, and Jennifer Streets. When you come to Spaight Street, Walden Homes, Ltd. is on your left. The office is on the second floor of this red brick building which also houses Thoreau House group home.
