Area Agency on Aging of Dane County

The Area Agency on Aging of Dane County is a unit of the Dane County Department of Human Services. It is responsible for planning and coordinating services to help people age 60 and over to maintain health and community connections, and for advocating on behalf of older adults in Dane County.

History:
The Area Agency on Aging Board was mandated by the state of Wisconsin in December 1972. It is an 11-member body appointed by the County Executive and approved by the County Board. It serves in an advisory capacity to the County Executive and the Health and Human Needs Committee. It also provides technical assistance to county departments and agencies, other governmental agencies, business and community groups, and the general public related to issues of aging and the needs of elderly citizens.
