The College Preparedness & Academic Advancement Center is dedicated to making quality education accessible to a diverse population in our district. It is our purpose to meet the educational needs of individuals and families and to help them accomplish their personal goals, thus supporting their full participation in modern society.
Description:
College Preparedness & Academic Advancement Center provides instruction in Basic skills in reading, writing, math and English as a Second Language. We offer exam preparation instruction for high school completion options such as GED, HSED, HSED 5.09, External Diploma Program. Our direct instruction is supplemented by technology, peer tutors, volunteers, supplemental instruction, interpreters, note takers, test on tape and test taking accommodations at all sites. We also are a resource for students enrolled in a program and/or pre-program students.
History:
In July of 1985 the District board approved the creation of the College Preparedness & Academic Advancement Center (formerly Alternative Learning Division.) The primary goal of this new Division was to develop flexible scheduling and non-traditional delivery system to reach under-served groups.
