The mission of volunteer services is to continue to develop and coordinate appropriate voluntary services for the individuals who live at Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) through center-wide and community collaboration. We will continue to promote the Center as an integral component of society, as a valuable resource, as well as qualified DHS facility, and home to the people with special needs.

Description:
Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) provides opportunities and choices that promote self-determination and independence for people with Developmental Disabilities. There are approximately 250 people currently residing at CWC. We also provide short term care and assessment for people living in the community. A variety of services performed by a highly trained and dedicated staff are available. These include medical, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, recreation, music therapy, vocational and dietary services.
Volunteers work in many of these areas.

History:
CWC is one of 3 residential facilities operated by the Department of Health and Family Services. The Center has been providing quality services for people with developmental disabilities and multiple handicaps for 50 years
In addition to the individuals that live at CWC, another 200 or more Wisconsin residents with developmental disabilities receive short term services each year.
