Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Volunteer drivers are needed to take Oakwood Village East independent living apartment or assisted living residents to medical (doctor or dentist) appointments, or take independent living apartment residents for personal shopping errands, a minimum of once a week, Monday-Friday, morning or afternoon. Volunteers are contacted by the independent living residents or assisted living facility staff in advance (minimum 72 hours) to schedule drivers to take residents for appointments or shopping errands. Volunteer drivers need to use their own vehicles for transporting residents and can receive mileage reimbursement for providing transportation.

Volunteer application, interview and orientation required with Oakwood Village Volunteer Services Coordinator for registration and screening purposes for placement. Volunteer needs to have good driving record (driver record check conducted during registration and orientation process), have their own vehicle to use (in good operating condition), a valid driver's license and their own automobile insurance coverage. Volunteers need to have good organizational and navigational skills in taking residents to appointments or on shopping errands in knowing their way around the east side area of Madison, and be courteous, considerate and respectful of Oakwood residents.

From Hwy. 151, take the American Parkway exit and following American Parkway to Tancho Drive. Turn right onto Tancho and immediately turn left into the Oakwood Village East main entrance. Oakwood East is accessible by car only at this time.
