Volunteers needed to be class instructors to lead a variety of classes for Oakwood Village East independent living residents. Types of classes for volunteers to lead include a weekly Exercise Group (3 days a week); an Arts and Crafts class once a week, Monday mornings, 9:30-11:30 a.m.; History of Food, Art Appreciation, Biography, Sacred Sites/Mysteries of the World, and Write the Right Story classes at least once a month, most any day, morning or afternoon. Potential volunteers need to have experience and interest related to leading these special classes for the residents. Volunteers will work with Oakwood Village East independent living Activities Director to determine direction and focus for classes, and take leadership for preparing and leading classes.

Volunteers are greatly needed to fill these openings to provide an ongoing benefit for Oakwood Village East residents to participate in classes related to their interests and enhance their quality of life. It will also greatly benefit the Activities Director to have volunteers to rely on for leading these classes.

Required application and interview with Oakwood Village Volunteer Services Coordinator for registration and screening purposes to be considered for placement. Orientation and training provided by Volunteer Services Coordinator and Oakwood Village East independent living Events and Activities Director for new volunteers upon placement. Volunteers need to have good leadership, organizational and social skills for leading classes and working cooperatively with the Activities Director and independent living residents. Volunteers should also have experience and knowledge related to classes they would like to lead.

 Oakwood Village East is located at 5565 Tancho Drive, near American Family Insurance Headquarters, in the vicinity of Hwy. 151 and I-90/94. From Hwy. 151, take the American Parkway exit and following American Parkway to Tancho Drive. Turn right onto Tancho and immediately turn left into the Oakwood Village East main entrance. Oakwood East is accessible by car only at this time.
