Up to 2 volunteers maximum needed to lead weekly News Currents current events activity group for Covenant Oaks assisted living memory care residents at Oakwood Village West Retirement Community. Volunteers are needed to lead the group once a week on Friday mornings, 9:45-11:15 a.m. Responsibilities include setting up the Covenant Oaks activity room where the group will be held, helping Covenant Oaks staff gather residents who want to come to group, facilitating the group utilizing information provided in News Currents kit and LCD projector during group time, and then reorganizing activity room as needed after group is finished.

Volunteers will work with the Covenant Oaks Events and Activities Director to learn about News Currents kit and how to operate projection equipment used for group. Volunteers are needed to lead this group to provide valuable assistance for the director and continue to enhance the residents' quality of life.

Required application and interview with Oakwood Village Volunteer Services Coordinator for registration and screening purposes to be considered for placement. Orientation and training provided by Volunteer Services Coordinator and Covenant Oaks Events and Activities Director for volunteers upon placement. Volunteers need to have good organizational and social skills in working cooperatively with Activities Director and Covenant Oaks residents along with planning this program. Experience and comfort with public speaking to include having a good, clear speaking voice necessary.
