Last updated on July 21, 2009

Help make a difference in the lives of older adults! Volunteers needed to help at Oakwood Village West in the Tabor Oaks assisted living facility or the Hebron Oaks skilled nursing care facility dining rooms for breakfast, lunch or dinner once a week Sundays through Saturdays to provide a quality dining experience for residents. Volunteers will assist the Dining Services staff with meeting and greeting residents as they come in to the dining room for meal time, pouring coffee or serving tea/hot chocolate as requested by residents, help provide refills for their hot or cold beverages, and help residents fill out menus or exit the dining room at the end of meal time. Volunteers are needed to help for breakfast at 7:30-9:00 a.m., for lunch at 11:30/11:45-12:45, or dinner at 4:30/4:45-5:45 p.m. This is an enjoyable opportunity for socialization with a variety of residents during meal times.

This assistance is greatly needed to provide assistance for the residents and Dining Services staff to ensure residents have a quality dining experience during meal time.

Volunteer interview is needed with Oakwood Village Volunteer Services Coordinator prior to placement to include orientation. Volunteer will receive additional orientation as needed when volunteer service begins upon placement. Volunteer needs ability to carry and pour coffee pots, and fill and carry individual carafes of hot water for tea/hot chocolate. Volunteers also need to have good social skills in being pleasant, courteous and respectful in working with residents and staff during meal time, and have good communication and hearing skills.
