Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on October 21, 2009 |
Volunteers assist elementary teachers with hands-on science activities, serve as mentors for students, work with students on research projects, help with science fairs and family science nights or lead activities in after-school science clubs. Many University students have worked in Madison classrooms and helped students to become enthused about science. This program targets high needs schools and students who would not otherwise be exposed to science in their lives.
Volunteers are required to have an interest in science and in working with young children. I meet with volunteer and assigned classroom teachers to clarify expectations and requirements. I provide a volunteer handbook that outlines expectations and duties. This opportunity is sponsored by: UW Madison Center for Biology Education
