If you would like to provide a valuable service to the Arboretum while walking or skiing the trails, the volunteer steward program is for you. The steward program offers volunteers a unique opportunity to educate visitors from a variety of backgrounds about the Arboretum while assisting staff in monitoring trail conditions and trail use.
Bilingual English-Spanish and English-Hmong speakers are especially welcome.
Opportunities are available to stewards for continuing education, with a focus on natural history and ecology.
Each steward patrols the Arboretum four hours per month. Shifts are available year-round on a flexible basis after the initial training. Steward equipment is provided.
The next training session takes place March 8, March 14, April 18, and April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 each day.
The training is held at the Visitor Center and out on the grounds. Individuals must complete all four days of training before becoming stewards. Advance registration is required.
