This Thursday, August 21st, children who will be attending elementary school in Madison will register for classes. Through a unique, first-time collaboration, eligible families will be able to enroll in BadgerCare Plus at the same time. Enrollment stations will be staffed by volunteers who are trained to assist with the on-line BadgerCare Plus application at the seventeen elementary schools where the population of students in poverty is 50% or more.

We have a need for volunteers willing to serve as escorts during registration. This would involve helping parents get from the room where school registration takes place to the room with computer access where BadgerCare Plus enrollment is occurring. No special training is required to be a volunteer escort.

Registration is from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm.  Volunteer escorts may work a 3 or 4 hour shift (11:00 am – 2:00 pm; 2:00 – 6:00 pm) or for the duration of the day. Assignment to schools will be coordinated through United Way of Dane County.
