The Horticulture Experiment Farm at the UW Research Station, Arlington, WI has surplus cabbage and potatoes from research plots that they will donate to the Community Action Coalition and 2nd Harvest Foodbank. All we have to do is harvest them.

Work involves cuting cabbage and loading it into bins on pickup trucks and picking dug potatoes from the soil surface and loading them into bins.

No experience is necessary. Some heads of cabbage may weigh 10 lbs or more, but most weigh 6 to 8 lbs. Walking through a cabbage field involves stepping gingerly over plants. If there was a rain the day or two before harvest, the field will be muddy, so wear old shoes.
