Description:
Gadsden Regional is a 346 bed hospital located in East Gadsden, Alabama. It has three critical care units and two psychiatric units. There are 11 operating rooms, two chat labs, and three GI rooms also at Gadsden Regional. There are 233 physicians on staff at the hospital. Gadsden Regional employees 1,180 people.
History:
The hospital was founded in 1906 as The Ralls Sanitarium. In 1944 it was sold to The Etowah Baptist Association, and the name was changed to Baptist Memorial Hospital. A new building was dedicated in 1963 in East Gadsden, AL. Expansion projects during the next years made the hospital a 9 story facility. In 1993 Quorum healthcare Group purchased the hospital from Etowah Baptist Association and the hospital was renamed to Gadsden Regional Medical Center. In August 2007 Gadsden Regional joined Community Health Systems based in Franklin, Tenn, that operates nearly 200 community hospitals in the country.
