Maine Appalachian Trail Club

The Maine Trail Crew conducts major rehabilitation projects on the Appalachian Trail in Maine, with a focus on rock work. These projects are a joint venture between the Maine AT Club, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and the Maine Conservation Corps. ATC volunteers join MCC teams each week. Work trips are scheduled Saturday - Wednesday.

Description:
The Maine Trail Crew is the trail crew of the Maine Appalachian Trail Club. MATC is a volunteer nonprofit corporation that manages and maintains 267 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Maine, its facilities and corridor.

History:
The MATC has been maintaining the Appalachian Trail in Maine since 1935. The trail has a reputation for being remote, wild and very scenic. The club enjoys a history filled with outstanding individuals who have given a great deal to the trail. The MATC has been sponsoring summer work crews since 1975, primarily to respond to the resource damage the trail has suffered in the last 30 – 40 years due to increased number of hikers.
