The mission of the Maine Discovery Museum is to educate children and families, encourage creativity, nurture a sense of wonder and to challenge all to learn in new and innovative ways.
Description:
Maine Discovery Museum is the largest interactive children's museum north of Boston. It offers seven major interactive exhibit areas on three floors, giving families an opportunity to play and learn together in a fun, hands-on environment. Children can send boats down a river or climb a two story tree house in NATURE TRAILS and learn how Maine is connected to different parts of the world through trade in TRADEWINDS. BOOKTOWN guides them through some of Maine's best-known and most beloved children's literary classics. They can go inside a giant head and heart in BODY JOURNEY and much, much more...
History:
Nine years ago Maine Discovery Museum started with a dream. In the years since people of all ages from Bangor, surrounding communities and eventually all over Maine worked together to raise funds, develop exhibits and programs and basically built this place from scratch. This spirit of community support and involvement prevails to this day! Since the museum has opened its doors in February 2001 it has delighted more than 100.000 visitors from all over the United States and the world.

I ganied self-confidence. I have learned that am not a screw up and that i can do things right. I have learned to think about things like a child would because then you can understand things better. Also children are people too. posted by sball500 on January 12, 2005 |
