As a partner in community health and wellness, we are the center of a system of resources combining hospital and outreach programs with a focus on community needs.

Description:
Maine Coast Memorial Hospital is a 64 bed acute care hospital, serving Coastal Acadia and Downeast Maine. We operate two off-site clinics, Southwest Harbor Medical Center in Southwest Harbor and Eleanor Widener Dixon Memorial Clinic in Gouldsboro. One off site rehabilitation center in Somesville is located on Mount Desert Island. Community outreach is provided by Health-Link, a department of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.

Maine Coast Memorial Hospital employs over 550 people. Our Volunteer Program has approximately 150 Volunteers throughout the hospital. Those who find they don't like to be in a hospital setting enjoy being a part of our special events, and make up another 150 Volunteers.

History:
Maine Coast Memorial Hospital was established in 1956 by Dr. Edward S. O'Mara.
