is established in order to improve the quality of life for all persons with disabilities through the provisions of better access to community resources and services.

Description:
The Maine Action Coalition (MAC) has 20 members currently. 15 of the members have a physical disability. 9 members make up our Board of Directors. MAC owns a lift equipped van that can carry 4 wheel-chairs at a time. MAC strongly believes in independent living, volunteering and making a difference in our community. Would you like to explore Maine's beautiful scenery and make a difference in the lives of adults
with physical challenges? Train to drive our 1998 Van.

History:
MAC was formed in 1983 by Bob Sudheimer to better meet
the needs of people with disabilities. The 1st goal was to raise money to buy a lift equipped van. Bake sales, yard sales and raffles helped raise the money for the 1st van. In 1985 MAC bought a new Dodge Ram Van. This has now been replaced by a 1998 Ford with custom chassis.
Since then 90 percent of all funds raised by MAC have been donated to other community groups.
