The Old Town-Orono YMCA is Christian in its heritage, and ecumenical in its delivery of rograms that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. At the Old Town-Orono YMCA we build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.

Description:
The Old Town-Orono YMCA is an independent association and is actively involved in the national YMCA movement. We are a non-profit community based organization serving men, women, boys and girls. As we continue to grow in our community we work toward building Christian spirts, strong minds and healthy bodies through character development, physical fitness, international work, family programs, child care and volunteerism.

History:
Since the start of our YMCA we have change locations and doubled our size but one thing holds true. . . We will turn no one away from our activies because of financial difficulties. Through the "Openong Doors Program" we work with individuals to make our Y affordable for them.

On numerous occasions we have opened our doors at no cost to the community in response to disasters and hard times. We were a place to sleep, eat and wash-up durring the ice storm and most recently a location displaced works can come to relieve stress, work on resemes and a safe place for their their children while they look for a new job.

Volunteers are the core of our Y and participate in a wide range of activities.

We just recently completed the addition of a field house with the majority of the labor being donated. This field house is not just used by our members but also by the community. In the winter months area High Schools use the field house at no charge for Indoor Track, Gymnastics and Wrestling.

We look forward to our future. At the Old Town-Orono YMCA VOLUNTEERS hep to build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.
