The fall meeting of Maine Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster will be 4:30 to 6:30 PM at American Red Cross of Southern Maine, 2401 Congress St., Portland, ME. Program topic is: Long Term Recovery from the Patriot's Day Flood. A light supper will be available and reservations are required. Contact Darla Chafin at darla.s.chafin@maine.gov if you will be attending. We hope to have a representative from the Southern Maine Long Term Disaster Recovery Committee speak on their progress. This is the second year in a row that York County has had a Long Term Recovery Committee (LTRC) and this year it includes two more counties. The Mid-Coast LTRC is new this year and includes Lincoln, Knox, and Sagadahoc Counties. We will also hear from those who worked on long term recovery in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and with FEMA. It should be both interesting and lively. If you want to know more about organizations who help our communities heal following an emergency, please come. |
