Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey's mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experiene with hope, strength and joy. Our vision is to for everyone to share the power of a wish.
Description:
Volunteers are our backbone. Having a dream come true is a magical experience that brings great delight to children who are going through difficult times due to illness. Their families are provided with an opportunity to create lasting memories that will sustain and uplift them in this uncertain time. Although most youngsters wish for a trip to Disney World, wishes are limited only by a child's imagination. Wishes typically fall into the categories of:
*I wish to go to... Travel throughout the United States, the Caribbean and internationally
*I wish to have a... Special gifts (computer, electronices, pool, shoppin spree)
*I wish to meet... A favorite celebrity, athlete or musician
*I wish to be a...Experience the trill of bing a police officer, firefighter, model, musician, etc. for a day.
History:
Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization. It is the largest wish granting charity in the world, with over 75 Chapter in the United States and its territories and over 25 international affiliates on five continents. Our National office is located in Phoenix, Arizona. The New Jersey Chapter, founded in 1983 is celebrating its 20th year of making dreams a reality for seriously ill childre in 2003. In fiscal year 2002 we granted a record 338 wishes. Since 1983 our Chapter has granted mor that 3,250 wishes to children in the Garden State. Ou Field Offic in Vooorhees (Camden County enables us to better serve the entire state.
