Our mission is to operate highly successful One Stop Career Centers that assist job seekers find and retain suitable employment and help employers meet their staffing needs. We provide quality workforce and career development services based in professionalism, partnership, and caring for job seekers, employers and our employees.

Description:
We operate the Career Centers in New Bedford and Wareham that provide core and intensive services for adults, dislocated workers and youth with emphasis on skills training and education that leads to self sustaining employment. We also manage a variety of workforce related programs for the local Workforce Investment Board, the City of New Bedford and other agencies. We serve over 11,000 job seekers and 500 businesses annually.

History:
New Directions was established in 1994 as a City of New Bedford affiliated agency and ran workforce related programs for the City and region. In 2001 it became the lead operator of the Career Centers in New Bedford and Wareham under the Federal Workforce Investment Act. In 2006, it incorporated and became its own 501(c)3 organization and is now an independent non-profit with the name of New Directions Southcoast, Inc. We have 45 employees and also oversee the functions of another 15 MA State Department of Workforce Development employees who work along side ours at the Career Centers.
