Southcoast Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for volunteers to provide emotional support to patients and families. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Hospice Program because they provide an array of services. Volunteers provide care and comfort to patients and their families while other volunteers prefer to assist with fund raising events, bereavement service, memorial planning, office tasks and other helpful duties. The hospice volunteer must participate in a free 2 day training session. Some training topics include patient care, family dynamics and spirituality. If you are interested please contact Jo-Ann Richard, Volunteer Coordinator, at 508-984-0277 or richardj@southcoast.org. The volunteer must be at least 18 years of age and have not experienced a significant loss in the last year. Losses include divorce, loss of a job or a loved one. The volunteer must make a committment of at least one year of volunteer service once the training is completed. He/she must provide their own transportation. They should have the personal qualities of a positive approach to life, maturity, empathy, flexibility, a sense of humor, willingness to help others, and an enjoyment of being with others. The person should also show ability and willingness to work as a team member. This opportunity is sponsored by: Southcoast Hospice & Palliative Care
