Making Friends, Changing Lives

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 15, 2009

The Compeer Program reflects the belief that a caring, compassionate volunteer's friendship and support help to offset the loneliness and fear experienced by those with mental illness.
The rewards of Compeer are many, including a sense of satisfaction and opportunities for personal growth for the volunteer, as well as reducing the stigma of mental illness. "The Soloist" is a classic example of that!

South Coast Compeer trains and supports volunteers, 18 years of age or older. Volunteers are asked to meet four hours a month for a year with their friend. You can fit this volunteer experience into your schedule, because you choose the hours to meet wit you Compeer friend.
