Outreach Suicide Prevention Speaker Recommended agencies

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on July 13, 2009

Did you realize that suicide is a national epidemic? It is the leading cause of death among college students; 24,000 teenagers attempt suicide each year. Give presentations to school classes from junior high school through college, professional groups and other groups to publicize suicide prevention information. Contact area groups to let them know of Speaker's availability. This is a good opportunity for a college student majoring in Communications with an interest in Human Services.

15 hours of classroom training will be given. If you are interested, this could lead to becoming a hot line volunteer, but that is not necessary. Transportation is necessary and you must be over 18 years of age, and out of high school.
