Lawyers for Children America

Lawyers for Children America recruits, trains, and provides support for attorneys who wish to represent abused and neglected children pro bono in child protection matters.

Description:
Lawyers for Children America volunteers attend a one day comprehensive training in juvenile law and child development. LFCA staff provides on-going support to its volunteer attorneys. Support may include in-depth case consultation; supplementary research on critical issues in the case; accompaniment to court hearing; and dissemination on the types of available community resources and how to access these resources to support the needs of child clients.

History:
Lawyers for Children America was established in 1994 in Hartford, Connecticut by Zoe Baird, then general counsel at Aetna Insurance. Currently, there is an additional office located in Miami, Florida.
